Jaan Kaplinski

(b.1941 in Tartu, Estonia) studied linguistics at the University of Tartu. He is a poet and essayist. Between 1992 and 1995 he was member of the Estonian Parliament. He is author of numerous poetry books and essays. He is also translator of English, French, Chinese, and Swedish.
